Hi! So Glad You're Here.

A pastor friend once told me that I'm a proclaimer.  I think he meant it in a good way, but I imagine that it can be annoying to some, at times (*cough* husband).  Since I was a little kid, I have had a strong sense of justice and have tried to live authentically, on principle.  When I was 12, my stepdad introduced me to Michael Medved a Jewish conservative radio talk show host, and I was hooked.  Politics seemed so exciting and so important to me.  My interest in it has not diminished, although sometimes it's completely exhausting to me.  My mind goes and my convictions are stirred and I feel like my ideas are going to explode out of my head.  I have often needed an outlet and this blog has been the platform.

I started this blog in 2012 during the Obama / Romney presidential election.  I was busy having and raising my 4 babies and loved having an "adult" outlet for my thoughts.  I have always felt strongly that if someone calls themselves a Christian, they should - at least - be striving to act like it.  I wanted my children to see their momma engaging in the difficult, complex challenges of life and seeking God to dictate my actions.  I wanted them to see that my faith was real and that I stood for what was true, even though it might not be convenient or easy or without sacrifice.  I hope and pray that I've demonstrated this well, in God's grace, and have been loving, first and foremost.

In college, I applied for and was accepted into the White House Internship Program under George W. Bush.  9/11 had already happened and I was a lone conservative in a world of all my liberal / progressive friends.  Those years were so good for me, learning how to debate and reason and stand in my principles while maintaining my friendships with people who viewed the world so differently from me.  These days, I often feel like the loner but it's when I'm with my Republican friends.  Either way, I want to stay engaged rather than falling into apathy or breaking relationship.  I do a lot of praying, asking that God would open my eyes and their eyes, to see what is true and good and beautiful - what He would have us do in these important and dangerous times.

When I'm not writing about faith and politics, I love to hike, ski, garden, and watch movies with my family and French bulldog.  I am in my 40s and am married to an incredible man and we raise four sweethearts along with our four special fur-babies.  Yep, I'm one of those weirdos.
